Samphia Foundation organized a Disability Inclusion and Awareness Workshop at Government Senior Secondary School, Bajaura, with the aim of promoting awareness, sensitivity, and understanding of disability among students and teachers. The workshop focused on the importance of inclusive education, the rights of persons with disabilities, and the services available to support children with developmental and physical challenges.

Around 60 students actively participated in the session, which encouraged open discussions on disability, inclusion, and the role of young people in creating a more supportive and accepting society. Participants were introduced to the concept of inclusion and were encouraged to view diversity as a strength rather than a barrier.

Mr. Beeju Himdal, Program Manager at Samphia Foundation, shared insights into the Foundation’s work and highlighted the various services being provided for children with disabilities, including therapy, education support, counseling, and linkage with government welfare schemes. He emphasized that building an inclusive society requires equal opportunities, respect, and meaningful participation for all individuals, regardless of their abilities.

The technical session was led by Ms. Anu Rana, Physiotherapist, who provided valuable information on different types of disabilities, early signs and identification, and the importance of timely intervention. She also discussed practical ways schools and communities can create inclusive environments that support the participation and development of all children.

Addressing the gathering, Principal Mrs. Kavita Kapoor highlighted the significance of inclusive education, stating that every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed according to their abilities. She appreciated the efforts of Samphia Foundation in raising awareness among students and fostering empathy, understanding, and social responsibility.

The workshop concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, during which students enthusiastically shared their views and clarified their doubts regarding disability and inclusion. The school administration expressed its gratitude to the Samphia Foundation team and assured continued support for similar awareness and capacity-building initiatives in the future.

The event was also attended by Mrs. Dhaneshwari, Ms. Ishani Sharma, Mr. Tek Chand, and Mrs. Shivali Mimansa from Samphia Foundation.

Through such initiatives, Samphia Foundation continues to promote awareness, acceptance, and inclusion, working towards a society where every individual is valued and provided equal opportunities to thrive.
