The District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Tandi organized an Orientation Program on CWSN (Children With Special Needs) for school stakeholders in the district of Lahaul & Spiti. The program aimed to strengthen awareness and understanding of inclusive education and to equip educators and parents with knowledge and practical approaches to better support children with disabilities.
On this occasion, Samphia Foundation deputed Mr. Beeju Himdal (Program Manager) and Dr. Tanu Sharma (Physiotherapist) as Resource Persons for the program. During their sessions, they shared valuable insights on:
- The importance and principles of inclusive education
- Rights of children with disabilities
- Understanding different developmental and physical challenges
- Practical ways schools and families can support children with special needs
- Samphia Foundation’s initiatives for the welfare, therapy, and empowerment of children with disabilities and their families
The program witnessed active participation from School Heads, Teachers, DIET representatives, and parents of CWSN children from different parts of Lahaul & Spiti. The interactive discussions helped participants gain a deeper understanding of how collaborative efforts between schools, families, and organizations can create a supportive and inclusive learning environment for every child.
Such initiatives play an important role in building awareness and strengthening the ecosystem of inclusive education in remote and aspirational regions like Lahaul & Spiti.
