Samphia Conducts Sensitization Session During NSS Special Camp at Government College Kullu

During the seven-day special camp of the National Service Scheme (NSS) at Government College Kullu, Team Samphia organized an impactful Disability Awareness and Sensitization Session for NSS volunteers. The session aimed to nurture understanding, empathy, and a strong sense of inclusion among young volunteers toward persons with disabilities.

The session was led by Dr. Shruti Bhardwaj, Executive Director of Samphia, who shared in-depth insights into various therapy services. Through interactive and activity-based learning, she explained different types of disabilities and emphasized the importance of early intervention, appropriate therapy, and community support in enabling persons with disabilities to lead independent and dignified lives.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Beeju Himdal, Senior Program Manager at Samphia, highlighted the organization’s ongoing work in the disability sector. He also emphasized the crucial role of NSS youth volunteers in spreading awareness, promoting inclusive practices, and supporting disability-friendly initiatives at the grassroots level.

The session featured engaging and participatory activities that helped volunteers understand the social, emotional, and practical dimensions of disability. These activities not only enhanced awareness but also fostered empathy and reinforced the spirit of inclusion among the participants.

The event was graced by the presence of Dr. Gaurav Bhardwaj, Advisor to Samphia, along with Social Worker Ishani Sharma, Sunny, and Manu, who actively supported and contributed to the session.

Through such initiatives, Samphia continues its commitment to empowering youth and building an inclusive society where persons with disabilities are respected, supported, and empowered.
